A Library as a Film Set
Workshop with Marie Ouazzani & Nicolas Carrier

Open Call Deadline: 21 September 2015
17 – 30 September 2015

Marie Ouazzani & Nicolas Carrier will conduct a workshop at the Lab and the library. Intended for a group of 6 participating artists, the workshop aims to create small publications that explore the possibilities allowed by reproduction means such as photography and photocopying, and through collage and editing. Participants will explore the methods of reappropriating images and history and producing some critical gestures around archeology, architecture and art.

The library will also act as a film set, where the artists will film the workshop, asking the participants to move between the library and outdoors. The artists will produce a film work that will be exhibited along with the publications in The Lab.

The workshop will take place over 5 sessions on September 17, 19, 21, 28 and 30, from 11:00 to 16:00. Those interested in participating in the workshop are asked to send their name, age, phone number, and a letter of intent to opencall@daratalfunun.org by 15 September 2015.

The artists duo Marie Ouazzani (b. 1991) and Nicolas Carrier (b. 1981) was formed in 2015. Through travels that bring them to monuments, historical and industrial landscapes, they re-contextualize images to highlight their memories of places. Film, photography, and publications are their means to engage with these images and investigate their spiritual and phantasmagorical potential. By handling cultural objects, their work offers a critical reflection around the representations induced by our time.
