Across cities and markets, museums and digital platforms, there are attempts to pre-format reality into forms that can be managed and reproduced. Histories are repackaged into familiar, sanctioned narratives. What circulates is what can be predicted and repeated. The result is a sanitised version of reality, processed for consumption.
Despite the irreducible complexity and deep instability that mark our world, the drive to standardise it does not relent. This drive no longer follows the world; it looks to precede it. It has become embedded in the very tools through which we see, think, and imagine; narrowing the future before it can be conceived.
Darat al Funun Summer Academy 2026 invites participants to situate their research and artistic practices within, and against, this logic of pervasive standardisation. Throughout the program, the prescribed form, and the tools and systems that produce it, serve as the primary site of investigation. In a world where artistic work is pressured to adhere to these forces, the Summer Academy proposes the Artist's Proof as a conceptual anchor; interpreted as a site of alternative production. This is an invitation to experiment with how meaningful work can emerge from, and ultimately resist, the limits of a pre-formatted frame.
Technical Origin: In the tradition of printmaking, the Artist's Proof is a print, held by the artist outside the numbered editions and the commercial sequence.
Interpretation: In this context, the Artist's Proof is understood as a work that has not yet been absorbed — held in the interval before it is settled by reproduction. It is reclaimed here as a space that belongs to the artist.
Protocol: By the end of The Summer Academy, participants are invited to produce a Proof within a 21 × 29.7 cm frame, rooted in their own research and artistic inquiries. Within this common limit, the question becomes: how can a work maintain its faithfulness when confronted with a pre-formatted frame?

Upon entry, each participant is given a workbook as the primary site of engagement. Function: A consistent frame for the assembly of fragments, sketches, and annotations. It acts as a daily ledger for the labor of inquiry. Operation: Throughout the program, participants respond to specific exercises and templates designed to test the limits of the format through their own research interests. Role: The workbook acts as the essential site of testing required for the Proof to emerge. |
The Summer Academy will unfold from 21 June to 31 July 2026. Across four weeks, participants will move through the mentor-led modules, with the remaining time dedicated to the development and production of their final work.
Attendance is required on three days each week: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
Alongside these shared days, the Summer Academy will also include studio days, during which participants are encouraged to remain present, continue developing their work, and make use of the space, though attendance on those days is not compulsory.
The Summer Academy is open to emerging artists based in Jordan and Palestine. Applications close on the 30th of May 2026 at 12:00 pm. To apply, please complete the form attached.
Accommodation is provided for participants traveling from outside Amman. Travel expenses are the responsibility of participants.
The Summer Academy will be in both Arabic and English.
على امتداد المدن وفي الأسواق، وبين قاعات المتاحف وعبر المنصات الرقمية، يُعاد تشكيل الواقع باستمرار ضمن قوالب مُعدّة للتداول وإعادة الإنتاج. تُصاغ المدن من جديد، ويُعاد استحضار الأحداث التاريخية في سرديات مألوفة ومصادَق عليها، وعبر منظومة صُمّمت لتنميط المُعاش واختزاله في صورة مُنقّحة وقابلة للاستهلاك.
لا تتوقف محاولات العالم عن تنميط الواقع وقولبته رغم كل ما يحيط به من تعقيدات وتقلبات، وهي رغبة تتجاوز الوقائع وتستبق الأحداث، كما أصبح أثرها متجذّراً في ذات الأدوات التي نرى العالم ونفكر به ونتخيله من خلالها، فيصبح الأفق أضيق قبل أن ندرك مداه الحقيقي.
تدعو أكاديمية دارة الفنون الصيفية 2026 الفنانين المقيمين في الأردن وفلسطين للتفكير من داخل البُنى المفروضة وضدّها، كنقطة انطلاق ممارسة فنية وبحثية وتجريبية، تنبع من إدراك القيود والمُحدّدات المرتبطة بمفهوم «السوق» ومعاييره، وتتحرك، في الوقت نفسه، خارج دوّامة الاستنساخ والتنميط. سيعمل المشاركون مع مُيسرّي ورشات العمل، على مدار ستة أسابيع، على تطوير مشاريعهم البحثية وممارستهم الفنية من خلال التفكير النقدي والتجريب العملي لمُساءَلة شكل وطبيعة البُنى المُسيطرة الحالية. يتخذ برنامج الأكاديمية من مفهوم «نسخة الفنان» ركيزةً لاختبار البدائل وتحدّي التنميط، حيث يُستعاد المفهوم هنا كحيّز خاص بالفنان، وكمساحةٍ تحررية خالصة.
الأصل التقني: في عالم طباعة الأعمال الفنية، عُدّت «نسخة الفنان» هي الطبعة التي يحتفظ بها الفنان خارج سياق الطبعات المُرقّمة ذات التسلسل التجاري (المُعدّة للبيع).
التأويل: بناءً على ما سبق، تُعتبر «نسخة الفنان» عملاً خارج منظومة التداول، يظلّ عالقاً في تلك المساحة الزمنية الفاصلة بين فترتي الطباعة وإعادة الإنتاج، ويُستعاد هنا كمساحة خاصة بالفنان.
الإجراء / آلية العمل: مع نهاية برنامج الأكاديمية الصيفية 2026، سيُنتج المشاركون «نسخة عملهم الفنية الخاصة» ضمن إطار 21 × 29.7 سم، والمنبثقة عن أبحاثهم وتساؤلاتهم الفنية. ليصبح السؤال ضمن هذه الأبعاد المشتركة: كيف يُمكن لعمل أن يحافظ على نزاهته عندما يواجه أُطراً محدّدة بشكل مسبق؟

سيُمنح كل طالب خلال الأسبوع الأول من برنامج الأكاديمية الصيفية دفتر عمل هو بمثابة محور التفاعل الأساسي. الوظيفة: إطار موحّد لتجميع الأفكار المتناثرة، والرسومات، والتعليقات. كـ«سجلّ يومي» يوثّق جهود البحث. العملية: سيعمل المشاركون خلال برنامج الأكاديمية على تمارين مُعيّنة وضمن قوالب مُحددة صُمّمت لاختبار حدود الشكل عبر الاستناد إلى اهتماماتهم البحثية الخاصة. الدور: يلعب دفتر العمل دوراً محورياً في التجريب واختبار مرحلة ما قبل إنتاج «النسخة». |
تُعقد أكاديمية دارة الفنون الصيفية 2026 خلال الفترة من 21 حزيران – 30 تموز. حيث يتضمن جدول عمل برنامج الأكاديمية على مدار أربعة أسابيع وحدات تعلّم ميسرّي برنامج هذا العام، بينما يُخصص الوقت المتبقّي لتطوير وإنتاج الأعمال «النهائية».
تتطلب المشاركة في الأكاديمية الصيفية حضوراً وجاهياً إلزامياً لمدة ثلاثة أيام أسبوعياً: الإثنين، والأربعاء، والسبت.
كما يتضمن البرنامج أياماً مخصصة للعمل الحر والتجريب في مساحة المختبر، حيث نشجع المشاركين على الحضور للتجريب وتطوير أعمالهم والاستفادة من تواجدهم في المساحة.
باب التقديم للأكاديمية الصيفية 2026 مفتوح للفنانين الناشئين الذين يقيمون في الأردن أو فلسطين. الموعد النهائي للتقديم 30 أيار 2026 (الساعة 11:59 مساءً بتوقيت عمّان). للتقديم، يرجى تعبئة النموذج المُرفق.
توفر الأكاديمية الصيفية إمكانية إقامة الطلبة القادمين من خارج عمّان، على أن يتحمّل المشاركون تكاليف التنقل والسفر.
