Abderrazak Sahli

Tunisia 1940-2009.

Abderrazak Sahli used a variety of materials as support for his paintings. His Baco series are works painted on the utilitarian brown paper bags, or “baco”, used by street vendors in his hometown, the Tunisian seaside resort of Hammamet. The rich and colourful images are depicted so vibrantly that the surface seems to dance to music. Sahli is known for his vocal performances during his exhibitions.
