We organize exhibitions that survey contemporary art from the Arab world, explore new media, and showcase works from The Khalid Shoman Collection. Talks, film screenings, and performances are organized in conjunction with the exhibitions program.
For our program at The Lab, we accept proposals to work, produce, or curate innovative projects and/or organize a series of talks, workshops, or film screenings at The Lab in the various fields of art, architecture, and design.

residencies
Our artists-in-residence program was initiated in 1995 to create a stimulating environment in which artists can explore new fields and generate opportunities for creative and instructional encounters.
In 1999 we launched our Summer Academy, which provided a key opportunity for artists from the Arab world to study and work with their peers under supervision of the late Berlin-based Syrian artist Marwan Kassab Bachi.
fellowship
In June 2011 we announced the establishment of a dissertation fellowship to encourage research on modern and contemporary art of the Arab world. The fellowship provides financial support to Ph.D. candidates in the humanities and the arts.
