Mahmoud Alhaj is a visual artist working between photography and experimental video. His practice examines violence, memory, and systems of domination, often through architecture and the urban landscape. Drawing on his background in journalism, he blends media analysis with poetic visual narratives, deconstructing military archives and low-resolution operational imagery. In 2024, he received the IIE Artist Protection Fund Fellowship and began an artistic residency at the University of Avignon. His solo exhibitions include 402 Degrees of Gray (Gaza), Violence 24/7 (Barcelona), and Control Anatomy (Ramallah). His film Control Anatomy received a Special Mention at the 2025 FIDMarseille International Film Festival. His works are held in the Birzeit University Museum and the Worcester Art Museum.
