Munjed Qasim was a student of the late Syrian artist Marwan in Darat al Funun’s first Summer Academy in 1999. Inspired by the Open Call for Darat al Funun's 30th anniversary celebrations, he picked up his paint brushes again after 18 years.

Munjed’s works on paper consist of complex geometric abstractions, transforming portraits, cityscapes and emotional landscapes into interlocking architectural lines and forms.
