Walid Raad

Walid Raad is a multimedia artist and a Professor of Art at The Cooper Union School of Art in New York. Raad's productions include mixed media installations, performances, videos, inkjet prints, and literary essays. Walid Raad questions representations of historical events and the ways in which film, video, and photography are employed to record episodes of violence.

His work includes The Atlas Group, a 15-year project between 1989 and 2004 to research and document the contemporary history of Lebanon, with particular emphasis on the Lebanese Wars of 1975-1991, and the ongoing project titled A History of Modern and Contemporary Arab Art.
