Darat al Funun will be screening the secend part of short films of the theme “Critical Representations of Power” selected by film critic Yazan Ashqar next Tuesday 18 March at 6:30 pm. This selection of short animated films presents cinematic examples that deal with the concepts of power and authority in its social context, with representations of innovative cinematic narratives as a form of protest, and with direct criticism to historical sociopolitical problems.

Made in 1963, Lenica created Labyrinth a self-consciously Kafka-esque tale of a winged lonely man literally devoured by totalitarian rule.
