Darat al Funun hosts The Palestinian Museum
Conversation with Chair Zina Jardaneh and Director General Dr. Adila Laïdi-Hanieh

Virtual Tour of the Exhibition “Labour of Love”
Saturday 26 January 2019
Beit al Beiruti | 6:00 PM

Wherever you are in Jordan, you are separated from Palestine by borders and obstacles. The Palestinian Museum is now reaching out to Amman. Chair Zina Jardaneh and Director General Dr. Adila Laïdi-Hanieh will talk about the museum’s concept, exhibitions, and projects. In addition, they will highlight the exhibition and book “Labour of Love: New Approaches to Palestinian Embroidery”, the first exhibition of its kind. It traces the shift from a historic, individual practice, associated with self-expression, to a cultural artifact and marker of national heritage, and then to a product traded globally, building a complex picture of Palestinian material history.

You will also have access to a unique experience through a virtual tour of the exhibition exploring aspects of Palestinian history, political life, and culture through three stories: Palestine before the Nakba, the first Intifada dresses, and embroidery produced by men (political prisoners in Israeli prisons).

The VR tour equipment will be available at Darat al Funun during opening hours for two weeks after the event at Beit al Beiruti. All you have to do is wear VR goggles to live the experience! The book “Labour of Love: New Approaches to Palestinian Embroidery” will also be available for sale.
