This year’s summer academy, Out of the Rifts: Forging Resilience in Changing Landscapes, engaged in a deep introspection into our current artistic and cultural methods, tools, and ways of knowing. The program explored their relationships to both prevalent and alternative systems of knowledge production in the Arab region at this current moment. Moving away from production for its own sake, the academy thoroughly examined the role of arts and culture through collective reflection and experimentation, with a particular focus on its forms, histories and relationship to broader realities.
