Darat al Funun invites you to the opening of A Matter of Resilience and A Camel in the Room, in which Tunisian-Ukrainian artist Nadia Kaabi-Linke and Jordanian artist Raed Ibrahim each reflect on the precariousness of shifting political, economic, and social constructs at the start of this new decade.
Nadia Kaabi-Linke’s A Matter of Resilience features five works, including one recreated for this exhibition, and two new works, one of which is a site-specific work made in Amman. Through quiet and minimal formal gestures, the artist shows five different paths of dependency in these times of turmoil.
Referencing the proverbial elephant with a twist, Raed Ibrahim’s A Camel in the Room makes us reflect on major issues that are not discussed or acknowledged. Ibrahim’s work aims to provoke the viewer through irony, thereby shedding light and generating debate on taboo subjects.
