In 1993, Darat al Funun, together with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, established a specialized studio for printmaking. This studio is equipped with a sophisticated printing press, housed by Darat al Funun for the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. It was kick-started by American artist Larry Thomas in 1993, and directed for the first three years by Iraqi artist Rafa al Nasiri.
