Facilitated by researcher and artist Hiba Masad, this collective reading takes as its starting point an essay by the late journalist Ica Wahbeh on Suha Shoman’s installation Of Time and Light.

Participants will read the text together as a way of reflecting on the questions raised by the installation, whose works unfold as a journey through the cycles of existence.

Hiba Masad is a visual artist whose practice focuses on collaborative projects and collective forms of artistic engagement. She studied Visual Arts at the University of Jordan, specialising in Graphic Arts. She currently teaches Graphic Arts at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture. Previously, Masad worked as an Activities Specialist at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, where she facilitated and coordinated numerous art workshops and activities for children and young people. Masad holds a Master’s degree in Arts, with a specialisation in Performance in Public Space, from Fontys University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Her master’s research, titled Collective Readings, later developed into a local initiative dedicated to collective reading practices in Jordanian public spaces. The initiative seeks to foster a community of readers interested in engaging with texts collectively, while creating spaces for dialogue and discussion around the themes, questions, and ideas they raise.
