"I always had a passion for history, and being from a country that suffered from slavery, colonization, and then a long-term civil war, it had created a kind of a historical gap. There was no time to reflect about all these events while we were busy fighting. Suddenly we were confronted with a modern world we were longing to be part of, so I have this feeling of being run-over by history itself. Some of my projects aim to reflect on these historical moments, social phenomenon, and small stories lost in the period of the struggle, but of course, I am not a historian, therefore I also use fiction in my narratives to transport it to different temporalities and spaces, to build a bridge between the past and future."
