When Halim had to leave Iraq after the start of the first Gulf War, he came to Jordan, where Darat al Funun provided him with a studio space. He participated in various of our exhibitions. In 2010 he returned for his exhibition Witness from Baghdad, where he presented series of triptychs, each comprised of three faces. Halim was one of the six artists whose work was featured in the Iraqi Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale – the first Iraqi Pavilion in 36 years.
