Issam Nassar

Dr. Issam Nassar is an academic and Palestinian historian specialising in the history of the Middle East and the history of photography. He is Associate Professor of History at the University of Illinois, Research Fellow at the Institute for Palestine Studies and co-editor of the Hawliyat Al Quds (Jerusalem Annals). He taught at the University of California, Berkeley in 2006, Bradley University between 2003 and 2006, and the University of Jerusalem between 1998 and 2003. He published a number of articles and studies, including the book Different Snapshots: Early Local Photography in Palestine (1850-1948). He co-authored the book Karimeh Abbud: Pioneer of Feminist Photography in Palestine (1893-1940).
