Public Works Studio is a Lebanon-based action research organization that adopts a multidisciplinary approach to spatial justice. It responds to the chronic challenges facing just cities, inclusive urban governance, and equitable development in Lebanon. Since its founding in 2015, Public Works has closely observed how the systematic commodification of land has stripped people of fundamental rights: to produce, belong to, appropriate, and transform lived space, and to shape personal and collective memory. Their work develops tools and visual languages capable of confronting the ecological and social crises in Lebanon, and the often invisible networks of neoliberal and colonial power that shape them.
