Fares Chalabi, recipient of the Darat al Funun dissertation fellowship (2013- 2014), will present his research on "Conceptual Geographies". In the talk, Chalabi will present the sectarian aesthetic system in contrast with the democratic system: there are specific Lebanese ways to perceive, to act, and to feel, which are different from, for example, American or French ways. Chalabi will then show how the application of democratic categories on the sectarian situation represses its specificity and empties it from its political dimensions.
