Conversation between Zara Julius and Nadine Fattaleh

Wednesday 11 March 2026 | 8:30 PM | Zoom

This online conversation brings together Zara Julius and Nadine Fattaleh to reflect on Julius’s practice. Working across sound, performance, installation, and social research, Julius’s work centers Black cultural innovation and speculative archival strategies, asking how histories of violence, fugitivity, and loss are transmitted, and how they might be engaged without allowing their grief and politics to be flattened or made transparent.

The discussion will explore Death is Part of the Process, Julius’s multi channel installation currently on display at Darat al Funun as part of In That Same Hour. Emerging from extended research into the Robben Island Mayibuye Archives and dedicated to Palestinian and South African political prisoners, the work brings to the forefront urgent questions about how archives operate as unfinished processes within conditions of ongoing unfreedom, and how we might engage them to rearticulate certainty and linear conceptions of History.

The conversation will be conducted in English.
