Join artist in residence Kian-Peng Ong in this talk, where he will show several projects that situate within the intersection of art, technology, nature, and immersion. In addition, he will be sharing his research interests surrounding Climate Change and the importance of emotional and affective qualities of art in describing and visualizing the climate crisis. Ong will also share some of the exchange residency results between Darat al Funun and the Singapore Biennale 2022.

Kian-Peng Ong (1981) is a media artist whose work focuses on the intersection of art, technology, and ecology. His practice-based research focuses on the imperceptibility of Climate Change, exploring immersive and technological ways of visualising and representing the invisible and intangible.
Ong graduated from UCLA with an MFA in the Design Media Arts program with the support of the DesignSingapore Scholarship. He is currently a PhD student at the School of Art, Design and Media and NTU Research Scholarship recipient.
His works have been shown in spaces such as the Tainan Museum of Fine Art, Singapore Art Museum, Arebyte Gallery London, ICA London, Total Museum Seoul, and ICA Singapore. He has also presented in art festivals, including the Singapore M1 Fringe Festival, International Computer Music Conference, Siggraph Art Gallery, FILE Festival Brazil, Asian Students and Young Artists Festival, Japan Media Arts Festival, Singapore Open Media Art Festival, and Yeosu International Art Fair.
Ong was awarded the President's Young Talent Grand Prize (Singapore) in 2015. Since 2017, he has been running Supernormal, an independent art space focusing on emerging and experimental art practices.
