Firas Shehadeh worked at Darat al Funun from 2010-2013, before moving to Spain to develop his artistic practice, and then to Austria, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts from the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien. He rejoined Darat al Funun from 2020-2021, as a member of the curatorial team, which developed the online program The Internet of Things: Another World Is Possible, conceived in the aftermath of the Covid-19 lockdown to facilitate a collective inquiry from (and through) the quarantine.
As an artist, he participated in Darat al Funun's 30th anniversary inaugural exhibition. His work grapples with the understanding of home and identity in a post-internet age, navigating experiences of exile and displacement.
