Let us imagine
The rivers burning in the long distance
We hear the silence, and suddenly
The music comes toward us
To kill us
So dancing can come back stronger
Under the white sun
-Mohamed el Baz
The text “Imaginons...” was written by el-Baz while in Sicily as a possible “form” for a public building in Amman, and later this text “imposed itself” onto the structure. In fact, the text “les fleuves brûlent...” (rivers are burning...) was engraved in the artist’s memory since 2007, during his stay in Bamako, and from then on has changed, traveling from one form to another, like the ensemble of elements that the artist has long explored.
