Open Studio: Rehearsing Realties
The Darat al Funun Summer Academy 2025

30 July – 30 September 2025 | The Lab

The Open Studio marks the culmination of Rehearsing Realities, Darat al Funun’s 2025 Summer Academy. It offers a glimpse into the questions, processes, and gestures that emerged throughout the program. Participants worked under the primary mentorship of artist Raeda Saadeh and took part in workshops and studio sessions with Raed Ibrahim, Nadia Bseiso, Khaldoun Hijazin, Sanabel al Far, and Basel Naouri.

As the program unfolded, students engaged with the political, social, and material specificities of the site, its layered histories, everyday frictions, and shifting rhythms. These became a ground for testing new relationships between bodies and spaces, between lived experience, political structures, and shared imaginaries. The Open Studio presents fragments from these ongoing explorations, many of which took the form of site-specific interventions across Darat al Funun.

Participants: Abeer Aref, Abdullah Tabaza, Ashwaq Maree, Awad Hamad, Bissan Zayyad, Delal Alsoub, Farah Al Maaita, Ghayda Abduljalil, Hashem Al-Souob, Mayar Alamleh, Nada Bashtawi, Raghad Resres, Rania Lardjane, Sadiq Al-Harasi.
