Learning

Throughout the years, we conducted workshops in a variety of fields, including painting, printmaking, the techniques of paper making, gilding, and illumination. From 1999-2003 Marwan directed the Darat al Funun Summer Academy. Since 2004, there has been emphasis on organizing workshops in new media, video art, photography, and music.

To engage young people and interest them in the arts, we also organize exhibition tours and workshops for schools and children.

In 2010, the British Council together with Tate Britain initiated a youth educational program, Nahnou Together, giving training courses over the year to teachers and art professionals. Darat al Funun, the Jordan National Gallery, and the Ministry of Education participated in this program. Darat al Funun is implementing it by initiating workshops for schools and young people and a toolkit has been printed to serve as a guide for educators.

PRINT STUDIOS

The print studios on the ground floor of the Main Building are open to artists throughout the year. Artists are invited to make use of the available workspaces and technical facilities, as well as train with experts or artists-in-residence in the fields of painting, printmaking, and new media art.
