Across cities and markets, museums and digital platforms, there are attempts to pre-format reality into forms that can be managed and reproduced. Histories are repackaged into familiar, sanctioned narratives. What circulates is what can be predicted and repeated. The result is a sanitised version of reality, processed for consumption.
Darat al Funun invites emerging artists based in Jordan and Palestine to apply to its 2026 Summer Academy, 29.7 × 21 cm: a six-week programme that explores how artistic practice can respond to the pervasive structures of standardisation and reproduction. Through a series of practitioner-led workshops, participants will situate their research and practices within these structures, and against them, experimenting with critical ways of inhabiting, testing, and challenging them.
