Khaled Al-Bashir is the Arts and Culture Director at Darat al Funun. He studied at the Architectural Association in London, where he has also taught as part of the AA Summer School. He previously lectured in the history and theory of architecture at Falmouth University and in critical and contextual studies at Bath Spa University in the UK.
In his independent practice, he works through writing and multimedia methods to explore how space, culture, and political structures shape the production of knowledge and our understanding of the world. His interests also include the entanglement of architecture and power, and the politics of seeing and narration. His works have been screened at venues across the Arab world, Europe, and North America.
